Millet mounts and rings

Anyone use them? Do you like them? Any pros? Cons? I was thinking about putting a set on my Browning BAR longtrac to hold a Leupold VX-III 3.5-10 x 40 mm scope.

I've got a set or two. They are perfectly adequate for any hunting application but they are toward the bottom of the price range. I don't know the BAR, is it tapped for a one or two piece dovetail mount?

Here's a link to the scope and accessory page of Sinclair's. I've spent a lot of money with these guys.

Re: Millet mounts and rings

I always get the Burris double dovetail mounts and rings. The rings lock in the bases by rotating them. "Signature Rings Include Pos-Align Ring Systems. Pos-Align is a revolutionary new ring system design. By using steel outer rings that hold pivoting synthetic inserts, Pos-Align lets any 1" scope be mounted perfectly aligned between rings and with the bore. The inserts simply pivot within the rings and self-center. They also prevent a scope from slipping under recoil and protect the finish from scratching."

If you want to take your scope off and sell it you won't have any marks on your scope ..Thats worth $50 right there.

Thanks, Tom and LowDow. I do like the idea of not marking up the scope.

Millet rings = flimsy junk.

Lol! So, I've gathered! Thanks! Someone close to me recommended the Millet strongly, and I just didn't feel good about them, but I figured I'd ask around. That particular person was using a low-end scope, too, so he might have made the choice based on economics. I'll probably go with either the Burris or the Leupold quick release rings (if anyone has anything to say about those, please say it!).

Does anyone have suggestions for the correct hardware for mounting a scope onto a Mosin Nagant 91/59? I've seen a lot of sloppy installs and would like to do it right the first time.

Seems to be some interesting information here:

and this is the Darrell whose name keeps coming up in online forums about Mosin Nagant scope mounts:
